Homemade Granola so easy your 4 y/o could make it. Trust me, mine did...

Updated: Aug 18, 2022

My youngest is obsessed with granola. Likes to eat it as is or use it as a topping on her favorite vanilla Greek yogurt. She also likes to help me in the kitchen when I will allow it. So I put two and two together and came up with a recipe that is easy enough for her to participate in and still flavorful, because we all have to earn our keep right lol. If you like additional toppings in it (dried fruits, chocolate, etc.) add at the end once the granola has baked and has cooled off for 10 mins and toss accordingly). This recipe is so simple you'll never go back to using anything else!

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil

  • 1/4 maple syrup

  • 1/4 honey

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 2 tbs brown sugar

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 3 cups old-fashioned rolled oats

  • 1 cup coconut flakes

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 250 degrees F.

  2. In a large bowl, combine the oats, coconut, and brown sugar.

  3. In a separate bowl, combine honey, maple syrup, oil, and salt.

  4. Combine both mixtures and pour onto 2 sheet pans. Cook for 1 hour and 15 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes to achieve an even color.

  5. Remove from oven and allow to cool.
